How do I identify the ground slot on my electric outlet, and use my product safely?

The silver rod end of the cable should be connected into the earth slot of the wall socket only. It should not be connected into any other slot on the socket. If you are using an extension cord you need to ensure the cord is grounded. You can tell this by the number of slots on the cord - non-grounded cords will only have 2 slots. The picture below shows the grounding slot of a standard US outlet and extension cord. If in doubt you can purchase one of our socket testers which will test whether your outlet is grounded.
